10000 APPLIED BIOLOGY 10 Year
Applied Biology is a one-year biology course for students not planning to pursue advanced science courses in high school. The course emphasizes fundamental life processes and their applications to everyday life. Additional topics may include local ecology, careers, and environmental issues. The course is a combination of lecture/discussion, group work, and laboratory activities.

10020 GENERAL BIOLOGY 10 Year
General Biology deals with the study of living things. As biology is the study of plants and animals, great emphasis is attached to the fundamental life processes. The course will progress from simple to complex views of function, structure, and diversity in living things. Students in this course will learn to know and understand the concepts and principles of biology.

10080 HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY 11 12 Year
Prerequisites- C.P. Biology or General Biology and C.P. Chemistry or General Chemistry or Chemistry Today
Study of structures and functions within the human body systems will be emphasized in this course. The major systems will be surveyed by means of lecture, discussions, and laboratory sessions. This course is a college preparatory class. Team dissection of a fetal pig is required in the course. A $50 lab manual is required.

10143 HUMAN BIOLOGY 10 11 12 Sem.
Prerequisite - General Biology or C.P. Biology
Human Biology is a course designed for general biology students who do not plan to be science majors, but who are interested in obtaining specific knowledge about the human body. An understanding of the major organ systems, diseases, and current topics concerning health-related issues will be accomplished through lecture, discussion, labs, and various community resources. A student completing this course will have a better understanding of the human body and how it relates to nutrition, exercise, sexuality, substance abuse, and disease.

10440 GENERAL PHYSICS 10 11 12 Year
Prerequisite - Algebra 1 and Biology
This physics course tailored to the student who wishes to learn more about motion, mechanics, sound, light, heat, electricity, and other topics in physics. Mathematics will be used; however, a greater emphasis will be placed on a conceptual understanding of the topics and phenomena studies. The student's introduction to physics will involve a mixture of readings,
Lectures, demonstrations and hands on experience in the form of lab work and projects. Materials needed: Scientific calculator.

10450 COLLEGE-PREPARATORY PHYSICS 10 11 12 Year
Prerequisite - Geometry and Biology and concurrent enrollmnent in Algebra 2-Extendedor higher math course
This is a physics course tailored to the student who aspires to a science-related career (engineering, medicine, architecture, etc.). Emphasis will be placed on relating the topics in physics (motion, sound, light, etc.) mathematically. Lecture and class discussion will focus on using mathematical relationships. A good understanding of algebra and geometry is necessary for this course. A scientific calculator is required for this course.

10480 CHEMISTRY TODAY 10 11 12 Year
Prerequisite - Biology
This is a concept based chemistry course applicable to all students and designed to help students understand the chemical basis of society. Goals of the course include educating students to make more informed choices as consumers and emphasizing practical applications of chemistry to problems and solutions in society. The course explores the chemistry of household and personal products with students analyzing choices they have in affecting the chemistry of their bodies and their lives. The course examines issues of global concerns including the impact of industry and technology on the planet.

10500 GENERAL CHEMISTRY 10 11 12 Year
Prerequisite - Algebra I and Biology
This course covers the fundamental concepts of chemistry. Chemistry is the study of the composition, structure, and properties of substances and the changes they undergo. The course includes the development of basic lab skills as well as the theory and application of the scientific method. A notebook and non-graphing calculator will be required.

17150 SCIENCE I Semester or 1 Year
Prerequisite - Active IEP Repeatable
The purpose of this course is to provide science instruction tailored to students' individual needs. Instruction will be designed in accordance with each student's learning method, rate, level, and style. Through an independent study format, students will learn to relate science concepts to daily living.

(Natural Resources and Wellness courses will be listed later)
