Remember that you must have at least 70% of your daily points in order to finish the course early. The dates listed behind each section are target due dates. You should work to stay on target.

9. Persuasive Writing 4/15
Pick a topic you feel strongly about. Talk with Lori about the characteristics of a persuasive paper. Make an outline and show it to Lori. Write a persuasive paper. Remember to include data and cite your sources.

10. Poetry 5/17
We will have several guest poets this semester. Your poetry portfolio will be based on your work with them. At the end of the semester, you will turn in a portfolio containing the following:
1. Notes for each guest presentation. You should include the date, poet’s name, important information, and personal reactions.
2. Work guided by the poets should be included in final copy form.
3. Additional poem work to be determined based on work with the guests. You will get a checklist from Lori.

NOTE: ATTENDANCE IS VERY IMPORTANT ON THE DATES WE HAVE GUESTS. DAILY POINTS WILL BE DOUBLED ON THOSE DAYS.

Mini Writings - You will need to complete a total of 18 mini writing assignments. Keep track of which selections you have completed on your folder. Turn each assignment in as you finish. You should target yourself to do one mini-writing per week.
